India-England fifth test from today: India can change 90 years of history, but has not won in Birmingham for 55 years, Bumrah captain for the first time

Posted on 1st Jul 2022 by rohit kumar

The last match of the five-Test series between India and England will start today at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. Four Tests of this series were played last year. Then the fifth match in Manchester was postponed due to the Corona outbreak. The same match will be played 10 months later in Birmingham from today. The most important thing is that instead of the corona-infected Rohit Sharma, Bumrah has been given the captaincy in this test.

Last year, India was leading 2-1 when the series was postponed. That is, if the Indian team wins this match, then many records will be made simultaneously. India has never won a five-match series in England in its 90-year history. It will be his first series win on England soil in the last 15 years. Also, Birmingham will end a 55-year winning drought.

The Indian team landed in Birmingham to play the first Test in 1967. Since then 7 Tests have been held between the two teams at this stadium and India has not won a single match. England has won in 6 Tests and one match was a draw.

Rain can disturb the first two days

If there is a Test match in England and there is no chance of rain, the chances of this happening are very less. This time rain can disturb the match. It may rain in the afternoon on the first day and in the morning session on the second day. From the third day onwards, the chances of rain will reduce continuously.

pitch and conditions

Edgbaston\'s pitch is generally good for the batsmen, but here the bowlers get more help. Grass has been seen on the pitch until the day before the match. If there are clouds in the sky and there is little moisture on the pitch, then batting in the first session of the first day can be very difficult.

Chance to win 3 Tests in the series for the first time

The Indian team has so far won 2-2 matches in a series in England, but till now the team has not been able to win three matches of a series there even once. If India wins this test, then this feat will be possible for the first time.

Four fast bowlers or two spinners, the decision today

The Indian team management may have to struggle to select the bowling attack. If the pitch is expected to help the spinners on the fourth and fifth day of the match, then the Indian team can give chances to both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. If there is more help for the fast bowlers, then Shardul Thakur can be given a chance in place of Ashwin.
