IFFI: Union Minister Anurag Thakur said- Our goal is to establish India as a global content hub

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Sunday said that the government aims to establish the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) as a one-stop destination for content creation, filmmaking, and shooting. He said that we want to establish India as a content hub. The 53rd edition of the nine-day IFFI kicked off here on Sunday.

 

Asia's biggest film festival - Thakur

Film personalities including Ajay Devgn, Kartik Aaryan, Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Bajpayee, Suniel Shetty, Varun Dhawan, and Sara Ali Khan attended the opening ceremony. This festival will continue till 28 November. Talking to reporters before the start of the film festival, Thakur said that IFFI is the biggest film festival in Asia. He said that we want to establish it as a platform where eminent filmmakers, directors, and artistes of the country and the world get an opportunity to showcase their films.

 

Thakur spoke on the Indian film industry

Thakur said that the platform also complements the efforts of the world to present new stories, creative ideas, and fresh perspectives to the audience. The Union Minister said that in the 75th year of India's independence, our focus under the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence is not only to celebrate excellence in cinema but also to develop a collaborative ecosystem for the Indian film industry globally through its Film Bazaar. Screening of 280 films at the International Film Festival

Thakur said filmmaker SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' is one of India's biggest blockbusters of 2022. This period of drama has taken the world by storm. We are proud of this. Superstar Chiranjeevi was adjudged the Indian Film Personality of the Year at the launch of the film festival. 280 films from 79 countries will be shown in this international film festival.

 

Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award to Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura

Explain that at the inauguration of the 53rd IFFI, the great Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura was honored with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award. Sora has been making films since 1955 and is still an active filmmaker. He is one of the icons of producer directors in his country, along with Luis Buñuel and Pedro Almodovar. He did not attend the ceremony citing ill health. His daughter Anna Saura received the award on his behalf. The 90-year-old filmmaker said in a video, "I am still recovering from bronchitis. I hope I make a full recovery soon. But in today's situation, I cannot travel. I would like to thank all of you and IFFI for the honor.
