The conflict between Israel and Palestine continues. Israel carried out air strikes in the Gaza Strip on Friday. In this, Taysir al-Jabari, a senior commander of the Palestinian organization Hamas (Israel calls it a terrorist organization), was killed. Hamas said 10 other Gaza people were killed in the attack, while more than 70 were injured.
According to reports, the Palestine Organization was threatening to attack Israel in response to the arrest of West Bank leader Baha Abu al-Ata. However, al-Ata was killed by the Israeli army in 2019.
5 year old innocent killed in the attack
After the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian organization Hamas also fired 100 rockets from the Gaza Strip towards Israel in two hours. Of these, 9 fell inside the Gaza Strip. Palestine organization Hamas said – 10 people, including a 5-year-old girl, died in the attack. Here, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) says that at least 15 Hamas terrorists have been killed in the airstrike.
Why the dispute between Israel and Palestine?
In this region of the Middle East, this conflict has been going on for at least 100 years. There are disputes over areas such as the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and the Golan Heights. Palestine claims East Jerusalem, including these areas. At the same time, Israel is not ready to give up its claim on Jerusalem.
The Gaza Strip is between Israel and Egypt. It is currently occupied by Hamas. This is an anti-Israel group. In September 2005, Israel withdrew its forces from the Gaza Strip. In 2007, Israel imposed several restrictions on the area. Palestine calls for the establishment of an independent Palestine state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
How old is this struggle after all?
This struggle has been going on for at least 100 years ago. Where Israel is now, it was once ruled by Turkey, which was called the Ottoman Empire. The First World War started in 1914. Turkey supported the countries against the Allies in this world war. Britain was also included in the Allies. So Turkey and Britain came face to face. At that time the British Empire was at its peak, as a result of which Britain won the war and the Ottoman Empire came under British occupation.
By this time the spirit of Zionism was at its peak. It was a political ideology that aimed to establish a separate and independent Jewish state. Due to this, Jews from all over the world started coming to Palestine. In 1917 Britain's Foreign Secretary James Balfour made a declaration that Britain was committed to making Palestine the homeland of the Jews.
World War II ended in the year 1945. Britain suffered a lot in this war and now it is no longer the same power. Here the Jews continued to come to Palestine and other countries started pressurizing Britain to resettle the Jews. Eventually, Britain distanced itself from this matter and the matter went to the United Nations, which was formed only in 1945.
On 29 November 1947, the United Nations divided Palestine into two parts. One Arab state and the other part Israel. The United Nations placed Jerusalem in the possession of the international government.
Arab countries refused to accept this decision of the UN. He said that he got less land according to the population. In fact, after the partition, Palestine got less than half of the land, whereas, before the partition, about 90% of the land was occupied by Arab people.
The following year Israel declared itself an independent nation. The US immediately recognized Israel as a country. After this many wars took place in Arab countries and Israel.
