Voting for the post of Vice President is to be held today. Jagdeep Dhankhar from NDA and Margaret Alva from opposition. In this election, the members of both the houses of the Parliament will vote. Votes will be cast from 10 am to 5 pm. After that, the counting will be done immediately. The result will come by late evening.

The house has a total of 788 members in both houses. According to the data, the position of NDA candidate and former Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar looks strong. Margaret Alva is competing against him.

780 electoral college, 744 MPs will participate

At present, there are 543 MPs in the Lok Sabha, while 8 out of 245 seats are vacant in the Rajya Sabha. That is, the electoral college is of 780 MPs. Mamata's party Trinamool Congress has spoken of staying away from the elections. TMC has 36 MPs. In this way, 744 MPs will take part in the voting. If all these MPs participate in the voting, then the majority figure will be 372.

Dhankhar seems to be winning only from BJP MPs

BJP has its own 394 MPs, this number is more than the majority figure. If seen in this way, BJP alone can make Jagdeep Dhankhar win. On the other hand, if we talk about NDA, there are 441 MPs, and 5 nominated are also together. In this way, 446 votes get in favor of Dhankhar. With all these votes, NDA would like to increase the margin of victory.

Support for Dhankhar apart from NDA

Jagdeep Dhankhar seems to be getting an edge over NDA MPs. Apart from this, BJD, YSRC, BSP, TDP, Akali Dal, and Shinde factions also have support. They have 81 MPs.

Dhankhar can leave Naidu behind

According to the figures, Jagdeep Dhankhar seems to be getting a lot more votes than the majority figure of 372. This figure can be close to 70 percent. In the last Vice Presidential election, M Venkaiah Naidu got about 68 percent of the votes. According to this, it is believed that Dhankhar can leave Venkaiah Naidu behind in this election.

Margaret Alva has their support

UPA candidate Margaret Alva has votes from Congress, DMK, RJD, NCP, and Samajwadi Party. The number of votes of these parties is 139. Apart from him, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, TRS, and Aam Aadmi Party have also decided to vote for Alva. All three have 29 MPs. Nine MPs of Shiv Sena's Uddhav faction are with Alva.
