China Factor in India-Russia Relations

 

1- In recent years, India has tried to decentralize its imports related to the defense sector with the US, and France rather than limiting it to Russia, because of its strategic interests. At the same time, fears of a rift in Indo-Russian ties were rising as India and the US grew closer in recent years due to escalating border tensions with China. At present, India does not have any major differences from Russia.

 

2- On the other hand, the history of bilateral relations between China and Russia is very old, but since 2014, due to increasing US pressure against Russia, Russia was forced to increase cooperation with China. Another reason for the strengthening of China-Russia relations is the volatility of mineral oil prices and Russia's increasing dependence on Chinese consumption. However, huge differences have also been seen between the two countries on many important issues. For example, China does not consider Crimea to be part of Russia and Russia has been adopting a neutral stand on the claim of Chinese rights in the South China Sea.
