Five superpower countries are seen united to save the world from nuclear disaster. These five nuclear powers - China, Russia, Britain, America, and France - have agreed that there should be no further proliferation of nuclear weapons and nuclear war should be avoided.

The Russian defense establishment, the Kremlin, has issued a joint statement of the above five countries on Monday. It said that the five countries, which are also permanent members of the UN Security Council, recognize that preventing war and reducing strategic risks between nuclear-armed countries is their primary responsibility. Along with this, they also have the responsibility to create an environment of security together with all the countries.

The statement, adapted into English, states that 'we recognize unequivocally that nuclear war can never be won, therefore it should never be fought. Since the use of nuclear weapons will have far-reaching consequences, so long as these weapons are in place, they should serve defensive purposes, preventing attacks and war through them.

China's Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu said the joint statement can help enhance mutual trust and replace competition between major powers with coordination and cooperation. State news agency Xinhua said China has a "no first use" policy of nuclear weapons.

France also issued a statement

France also issued a statement saying that the five superpowers reiterated their determination for nuclear arms control and disarmament. He said he would continue the bilateral and multilateral approach to nuclear weapons control.

Russia and China's relations with America came to the lowest level

This statement of the so-called 'P5' group comes at a time when bilateral relations between the US and Russia have fallen to the lowest level since the end of the Cold War. At the same time, the relationship between America and China is also at a low level due to many disagreements.

nuclear weapons stockpile with china

US Defense Headquarters Pentagon has made a big increase in its estimate released in November regarding China's nuclear stockpile. According to him, China can have about 700 nuclear weapons by 2027, and by 2030 these will reach 1000. That's why America is repeatedly urging China to join a new arms treaty with it and Russia.

Tension rising over Russian military build-up near Ukraine

Tensions between Moscow and the West have been rising since Russia's military build-up near neighboring Ukraine. Moscow says it can move its arms around its territory as it deems necessary. But last Thursday, US President Joe Biden told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that a possible move on Ukraine would lead to sanctions on his country and increase American presence in Europe.

US and Russian officials will hold security talks on January 10 to discuss concerns about their respective military activity and Ukraine.
