
Srinagar, March 2 (IANS) Fourteen houses were damaged by an avalanche in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Monday. There was no immediate report of any loss of life, authorities said.
"Fourteen houses were hit by an avalanche in Sardaab (Tulail) village of Bandipora district today. Six of these houses were destroyed while eight were partially damaged," a senior police official told IANS here.
"No loss of human life has been reported in this tragedy so far," he added.
Heavy snowfall has occurred in the higher reaches of the state during the last two days and the weather office on Monday forecast more snowfall or rain during next 24 hours.
