The soldiers rescued both the mother and daughter safely from the first floor and brought them out for three kilometers in a boat. After that, the girl and the mother were put on an army vehicle.

An army officer said that both of them were safely taken in a vehicle to a relative of theirs in Fatehgarh Chudhiya, 15 kilometers away. Since the flood water was very high, the vehicle also faced a lot of difficulties. At present, both are safe.

Red alert in Punjab

 

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for rain in Punjab on Tuesday and a yellow alert on Wednesday. If the rain does not stop in the mountains, the situation may worsen. However, there are also chances of drizzle till September 7. So far, 470 mm of rain has occurred in Punjab, which is 30 percent more than normal in the monsoon season. On the other hand, 834 mm of rain has occurred in Himachal so far, which is 36 percent more than normal.

 

NDRF, Army and Air Force teams deployed

Excessive rainfall in the plains as well as the mountains has caused a lot of devastation by creating flood conditions in Punjab. Teams of the Army and Air Force, along with NDRF, are deployed to save people from floods. Ministers and MLAs of Punjab government are fully active in the field and are providing all possible help to the people while workers and leaders of BJP, Congress and SAD are also engaged in relief work.

 

12 districts in the grip of floods

According to the Punjab government, 12 districts of the state are in the grip of floods, which include Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Moga, Tarn Taran, Mansa, Fazilka, Jalandhar, Mohali, and Barnala. 1044 villages of these districts are affected. So far 15688 people have been rescued. The government has set up 129 relief camps in these districts, in which 7144 people have been given shelter. 20 teams of NDRF and 12 columns of Air Force-Army and 30 to 35 helicopters are engaged in rescue operation. BSF jawans are also engaged in saving people. Chief Minister's helicopter and 114 boats are also engaged in rescue work.

 

Most crops were destroyed in Amritsar

Due to floods, most crops of 23 thousand hectares have been destroyed in Amritsar. Apart from this, 172205 hectares of crops have been destroyed in Mansa, 11232 in Ferozepur, 14934 in Kapurthala, 11,883 in Tarn Taran, 2800 in Jalandhar, 2 thousand in Mohali, 1450 in Patiala, 5971 in Hoshiarpur, 2442 in Pathankot, 84 in Sri Muktsar Sahib, 949 in Moga, 108 in Ludhiana, 24 in Gurdaspur, 7 in SBS Nagar, 5 in Malerkotla, 2 in Barnala, 3 in Sangrur, 1 hectare in Fatehgarh Sahib. According to Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, the Punjab government is providing all possible help to the people; now, only the special relief package from the central government is awaited.
