CISF caught 4 tourists for offering Namaz in Taj Mahal's Shahi Masjid. Among them, 3 tourists are from Hyderabad, while one is from Azamgarh. The CISF handed over the four tourists to the police. The police have registered a case against these four at the Tajganj police station. All of them will be presented in the court on Thursday. The chairman of the Taj Mahal Masjid Arrangement Committee has expressed displeasure over this action.
The matter is on Wednesday. Guide Vinay Kumar told that the four tourists were brought from Lucknow to show the Taj Mahal. When he reached the Taj Mahal in the evening, he saw some people offering Namaz in the Shahi Masjid. After that, he sat down to offer Namaz. Then as soon as he got up, the employees of CISF and ASI i.e. Archaeological Survey of India caught all four of them and handed them over to the Tajganj Police.
In this case, the superintending archaeologist Dr. Rajkumar Patel says that according to the Act and the order of the Supreme Court, only Friday is the day fixed for offering Namaz in the Taj Mahal mosque. Can't offer Namaz for the rest of the day.
The Taj Mahal is a protected monument. In 2018, a petition was filed to offer Namaz every day in the Taj Mahal, but it was rejected. That is, except Friday, one cannot offer Namaz on other days. Police said that despite the ban, a case has been registered against the four tourists under Section-153 in the matter of offering Namaz.
Opposition to the Arrangement Committee of the Taj Mahal Mosque
Ibrahim Zaidi, chairman of the Taj Mahal Mosque's arrangement committee, has opposed the arrest of tourists for offering prayers. He said, "Nowhere in the mosque of the Taj Mahal it is written that prayers will be offered here only on Fridays. Four tourists had gone to offer prayers after seeing the mosque. Namaz has always been offered here."
Zaidi further said, "There has been a ban on offering Namaz from the ASI for some time. Roka? If it is forbidden to offer Namaz in the mosque, then put up a board there, so that tourists can know about it."
