Bangalore, March 27 (IANS) The AAP Thursday complained to the Election Commission on false propaganda being carried by a religious trust through pamphlets in some areas of Bangalore, allegedly at the behest of Congress, to defame it.
"We have complained to the EC that false, objectionable and defamatory content against our party being distributed in some areas of the Bangalore Central parliamentary constituency at the behest of Congress," an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said in a statement here.
Noting that a systematic, malicious and fallacious campaign was being run by its political rivals, especially Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to defame it and mislead citizens, the fledgling party said its political opponents were trying every trick in their books to give a bad name by branding it as a "B team" of the national parties.
"By employing such tactics, our rival political parties are trying to divert and deflect attention of citizens from core issues concerning the public in these difficult times. We are, however, committed bring issues concerning citizens back to centre stage for debate," the statement said.
Clarifying that it did not believe in vote bank politics through religion, caste, creed, region or race, the AAP reiterated that it was against such politics and would not tolerate misleading campaign by Congress and BJP to cause fear psychosis among minorities.
"For long, Congress has played on the minds of minorities to create vote banks without doing anything substantial for them. They (minorities) have been used in elections as vote banks, post which they have been left to fend for themselves. The socio-economic development of minorities is in bad shape, for which Congress is responsible as it had governed the nation for over decades," the statement added.
