Actor Kalyan Chatterjee, who had acted in 400 films, passed away at the age of 81. He was suffering from typhoid.

Another piece of sad news is coming from the entertainment world. After Dharmendra, another veteran actor from the industry, Kalyan Chatterjee, has passed away. Kalyan had been ruling the cinema world for the past six decades. The actor's death has come as a major shock to the industry. The West Bengal Motion Picture Artists' Forum confirmed Kalyan Chatterjee's death.

 

 

Kalyan Chatterjee had been ill for some time. He was suffering from age-related ailments, including typhoid, and had been admitted to MR Bangur Super Speciality Hospital for the past few days. On Monday, the West Bengal Motion Picture Artists' Forum confirmed that Kalyan passed away on Sunday night at the age of 81.

 

 

Industry shocked by Kalyan Chatterjee's death.

The Artists' Forum issued a statement after Kalyan Chatterjee's death, saying, "One of our most special members, Kalyan, has left us. We are deeply shocked. May God rest his soul in peace."

 

 

Kalyan Chatterjee's acting career

Kalyan Chatterjee, who studied at the Pune Film Institute, dedicated six decades to cinema. He captivated audiences not only in Bengali films but also in Hindi films. He had acted in nearly 400 films. He breathed life into every role he played. He mostly played supporting roles in his career.

 

 

Kalyan had worked with Satyajit Ray.

Kalyan Chatterjee started his career in 1968 with the film Aponjan. He was a part of many major films, including Dhanyi Meye, Dui Prithibi, Sabuj Dwip er Raja, and Baishe Srabon. He was also a part of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray's film Pratidwandi.

 

 

The actor also left his mark on Bollywood.

Kalyan Chatterjee left an indelible mark on Bengali cinema. But it would not be wrong to say that he also cast his spell on Hindi cinema with his acting. He played an important role in the Sujoy Ghosh-directed film Kahaani, starring Vidya Balan, which was released in 2012.
