Adani Enterprises Share Price: Adani Enterprises shares rose sharply on Wednesday, September 9, even as the broader Indian stock market remained under pressure. The stock gained as much as 5% during the session after Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, announced a major fundraise backed by prominent global and domestic investors.
The investor consortium includes BlackRock-managed funds, Temasek, Premji Invest and Alpha Wave Global. AAHL has entered into binding agreements to raise about ₹9,825 crore ($1 billion) by issuing new equity shares.
The transaction values Adani Airport Holdings at approximately $18 billion on a pre-money equity basis. Once all three investment tranches are completed, the participating investors will collectively hold around 5.54% of AAHL.
Adani Enterprises share price rises despite market weakness.
Adani Enterprises shares opened at around ₹2,960 and climbed sharply during morning trading. The stock touched an intraday high near ₹3,142, making it one of the strongest performers among major benchmark stocks.
The rally came as the broader Indian market moved lower. The Nifty 50 was down amid pressure from rising crude oil prices and heightened geopolitical concerns. Reuters reported that Adani Enterprises gained after the airport subsidiary announced the $1 billion capital-raising plan.
The airport fundraise has therefore emerged as the key trigger behind the positive movement in Adani Enterprises shares.
What is the Adani Airports fundraise?
Adani Airport Holdings has signed a Share Subscription Agreement and Shareholders' Agreement with the identified investors.
Importantly, the transaction involves AAHL issuing new equity shares. It is not simply a sale of existing Adani Enterprises shares.
The investors will subscribe to the newly issued shares in three tranches. The final tranche is expected to be completed by July 2027. Following completion of all three tranches, the investors will collectively own approximately 5.54% of AAHL.
Adani Enterprises will continue to remain the controlling shareholder of its airport subsidiary.
Who is investing in Adani Airports?
The consortium bringing fresh capital into AAHL includes some of the world's major institutional investors.
These include:
BlackRock-managed funds
Temasek
Premji Invest
Alpha Wave Global
The participation of these investors gives the airport business an external institutional valuation benchmark of around $18 billion before the new investment.
Where will the ₹9,825 crore be used?
According to Adani Airports, the fresh capital will be used for several growth initiatives.
The company plans to invest in the expansion and modernisation of airport infrastructure across its portfolio.
The funds will also support the development of the Adani Airport City ecosystem around its airports. The first phase envisages approximately 22 million square feet of mixed-use development.
Another focus will be expanding passenger-facing and non-aeronautical businesses, including ground-handling operations.
The company expects these investments to help increase its overall capacity to around 200 million passengers annually.
Why is the Adani Airports deal important?
The fundraise is significant because it brings substantial long-term institutional capital into India's airport infrastructure sector.
AAHL operates a major portfolio of airports, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram, along with the Navi Mumbai airport project.
The investment also comes after Adani Enterprises completed a ₹15,000 crore qualified institutional placement (QIP) in July 2026. Adani said the QIP was the largest by a non-financial corporate in India.
Adani Enterprises stock: What investors should watch
The immediate market reaction has been positive, with Adani Enterprises shares gaining strongly following the airport fundraise announcement.
However, investors will continue to watch the execution of the three investment tranches, airport expansion plans, passenger growth, commercial revenue generation and the broader market environment.
The ₹9,825 crore capital infusion strengthens AAHL's funding base, while the participation of BlackRock, Temasek, Premji Invest and Alpha Wave Global provides an important institutional benchmark for the value of Adani's airport business.
For Adani Enterprises shareholders, the development puts the company's airport business firmly back in focus as one of the group's key long-term growth platforms.
