Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has apologized by sending a letter to President Draupadi Murmu on Friday for the statement of the wife of the nation. Adhir wrote in the letter – I accidentally used the wrong word for you. My tongue slipped. I apologize and request you to accept it.
Speaking to reporters during a protest at Delhi's Vijay Chowk on Wednesday, Adhir Ranjan used the word 'national wife' for President Murmu. The ruling BJP MPs strongly opposed this, as well as demanded an apology from the impatient and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Adhir has also been given notice by the Women's Commission
The National Commission for Women has also sent a notice to Adhir for using indecent words for President Murmu. They have been asked to reply by 11.30 am on August 3. In the same case, an FIR has been registered against Adhir Ranjan in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh on the complaint of a BJP worker.
What did Adhir Ranjan say?
When Adhir came out of the House on Wednesday, the media had asked him if you were going to Rashtrapati Bhavan but was not allowed to go. Then he said that even today he will try to go. The 'national wife' of India is for everyone. Why not for us?
As the controversy escalated on Thursday, he said, 'Hindi is not my mother tongue. I had slipped my tongue, hang me. The ruling parties are trying to make sesame seeds. I have sought an appointment with the President. I will apologize to them only, not to the hypocrites.
Sonia spoke to Smriti - Don't talk to me
A scuffle broke out between Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Union Minister Smriti Irani on the Parliament premises after Parliament proceedings were adjourned on Thursday. Sonia was questioning BJP MP Rama Devi as to why her name was taken in Adhir Ranjan's case. On this Smriti Irani came in the middle and said to Sonia- 'I took your name, tell me?' On this, Sonia got furious and said- 'Don't talk to me.'
For the first time, the proceedings of the Parliament were stopped due to the BJP.
