Ae Watan Mere Watan Review: Inspirational story of Congress Radio in an election environment, every youth should 'read' the film

There is an election atmosphere in the country. Congress is busy saving its crumbling forts in different states and in such a situation, a story has been aired on a foreign OTT Prime Video that tells us that only the blood and sweat of Gandhi, Nehru, and a few other famous people are involved in the country's independence. Not only this, but we got this freedom because of the courage and courage of those unsung heroes who stood firm in their respective areas and fought the British tyranny. The film 'Ae Watan Mere Watan', which tells the story of Gandhian Congress leader Usha Mehta, who left this world 24 years ago, starts from the beginning by portraying Ram Manohar Lohia as an opponent of Nehru's policies. It also highlights his studies from Germany and tries to tell that the country got independence through the struggle of those days when all these big leaders were in jail. Usha Mehta was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in the year 1998.

Judge's daughter's rebellion

The film 'Ae Watan Mere Watan' captures the story of Usha Mehta, a patriotic daughter of a judge who praised the then British Prime Minister Winston Churchill day and night, from her childhood. Teachers are distributing salt to children in school. They are talking about Mahatma Gandhi's Salt Satyagraha and the police come there and threaten. The judge is embarrassed that his daughter has been beaten by the police. The daughter grows up. Attends Congress meetings with her colleagues. When Gandhiji comes to Bombay (now Mumbai), she takes a vow of celibacy. At the time of the announcement of 'Quit India' movement, Usha Gwalia is seen in the tank grounds and after the ban on Congress, she starts Congress Radio to spread the message of Congress to the people through radio. His companions are young. This film tells a lot for today's youth engaged in making reels and reels. If they can't watch the film, they should read about its main character. These are the youth of every era who have played an active role in giving a new direction to any society.

Prime Video's 'Suitable Boy' movie

The film 'Ae Watan Mere Watan' is a film made by Karan Johar's digital company Dharmatic Entertainment, at whose house a fair of stalwarts of Amazon Prime Video was organized last night. Karan also hosted the announcement of Prime Video's proposed programs in India for the next two years in Mumbai. Karan, once the 'suitable boy' of Netflix, is now the apple of Prime Video's eye. Karan's effort to make a film like 'Ae Watan Mere Watan' is proof that he is not attracted only to masala films. With increasing age, seriousness started appearing in Karan, earlier this was also seen in 'Love Stories' which was aired on the same OTT and now he also deserves gratitude for making the film 'Ae Watan Mere Watan'. Simply, his extra attachment to his star sons, or should we say daughters, has been spoiling his meaningful intentions earlier also, and here too the weakest link of the film is actor Saif Ali Khan's daughter Sara Ali Khan.

Sara is unaware of alarm bells

The selection of Sara Ali Khan in the role of freedom fighter Usha Mehta has been under doubt since the day the film was announced. Sara has a lot of interest in acting but from the first film 'Kedarnath' to the last film 'Murder Mubarak', there has not been much progress in her acting. If he takes some time off from presenting himself as a star on social media and invests some time in theater or acting workshops, then there may be possibilities for him in the coming days. Otherwise, the big responsibilities given to Usha Mehta like living may soon be lost from her hands. Sara Ali Khan had many opportunities to show the emotional aspects of her acting in this film. Usha's dialogue with her friend Kaushik after taking the vow of celibacy could have become the tent pole of the film. Even Usha's struggle for radio fails to connect with the audience. Her scenes with Aunt Madhu Raja could have taken the story to a different level. Sara's acting is so ordinary that even in her scenes with her father, the emotional conflict between the two does not emerge. Sara Ali Khan has been able to do only nine films in the last six years and out of these, this is the fifth film that the producers could not muster the courage to bring to the theaters, and understanding this fact should not be a big deal for Sara.

The film could not convince Lohia

The story of the film ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ follows its predictable path from the first frame. There is nothing special in the story which can create excitement among the audience. An attempt is made to create tension through the police raid at the beginning of the film, but even before reaching the boiling point, the story loses its steam. Kannan Iyer should think whether Emraan Hashmi as Ram Manohar Lohia will be remembered by the audience after a few years. Lohia's character is recognized as the leader of a breakaway party from the Congress in North India. It would have been timely if the film writers had worked a little harder on this aspect. Sara's choices are the third weak link of the film after the script and her co-actors are also there.

This is the real touch of acting!

Leaving aside Sparsh Srivastava, no other artiste can emerge as distinct from the aura of Sara Ali Khan. Sparsh, who came to the attention of the audience with 'Jamtara', has left its impact here too. He was also very active in the film 'Laapta Ladies' and here too his character of Fahad comes out as a strong stick of the Ganga Jamni culture of India. The film was mostly shot on sets and these sets completely failed to keep the film close to reality. The music of the film is average and the absence of even a single upbeat song in a film based on patriotism can be considered a failure on the part of its director as well as its producers. In cinematography, Amalendu Chaudhary should have decorated 1942 with a combination of light and shadow, but this does not seem to be happening. Sangeet Varghese's editing is also a bit dull. Merging the shot of the spoon spinning in the cup with the frock spinning in the wind is great evidence of this below-average editing. The makers have taken the name of the film from the line of Gulzar's song written for the film 'Raazi', but the same sophistication is missing from this film.
