The first meeting of the high-level committee formed by the Central Government to investigate the horrific plane crash in Ahmedabad will be held in Delhi on Monday. Government sources have given this information.
The Home Secretary is heading this committee and its objective is to prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent such incidents in the future. The committee will have to submit its report within three months.
AAIB is investigating
The responsibility for the technical investigation of the Ahmedabad plane crash has been entrusted to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). AAIB is investigating how and why the aircraft failed technically.
At the same time, this high-level committee will prepare a holistic and policy-based solution to prevent such incidents in the future.
Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu had said on Saturday that AAIB will investigate the technical aspects, while the committee headed by the Home Secretary will give suggestions regarding future security policies and procedures.
Black box found
On Thursday, Air India's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane flying from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed in the medical college campus in Meghnagar a few minutes after takeoff. There were a total of 242 people on board the plane, out of which only one person survived.
The black box was recovered from the accident site on Friday evening. The black box records technical data related to the flight and the pilot's conversation, which will help in knowing the real cause of the accident.
