Ajit Kumar is India's permanent representative to UN in Geneva

New Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS) The government Thursday appointed Ajit Kumar, India's consul general at Atlanta, in the US, as ambassador and permanent representative of the country to the United Nations offices in Geneva.

An official statement here said Ajit Kumar was expected to take up his assignment shortly.

The government also appointed Vishnu Prakash, currently India's ambassador in South Korea, as the next high commissioner to Canada.
