NSE IPO GMP Surges to ₹285: Price Band May Be ₹1,800–₹2,200; Check Latest Update

Investors have received a major update on the much-awaited NSE IPO. The National Stock Exchange has received regulatory approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), clearing a major hurdle for its long-delayed public listing.

Following the approval, activity in the grey market has intensified. The NSE IPO GMP has climbed to around ₹285 per share, according to current market-tracker data.

NSE IPO Price Band: Is ₹1,800 Possible?

The official price band has not yet been announced. However, market reports indicate that NSE could price the IPO around ₹1,800 per share.

Reuters, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that large prospective investors, including Indian mutual funds, indicated they would be comfortable buying NSE shares at around ₹1,800. The formal price band is expected to be finalised in the coming days.

Other market estimates are wider, with analysts putting the potential price band in the ₹1,800–₹2,200 range.

NSE IPO GMP at ₹285: Could Listing Price Reach ₹2,085?

If the IPO is eventually priced at ₹1,800 and the current GMP of ₹285 remains unchanged, the implied listing price would be:

₹1,800 + ₹285 = ₹2,085 per share

That would represent an indicative premium of about 15.8% over the assumed ₹1,800 issue price.

However, investors should remember that GMP is unofficial and can change sharply before listing. The actual listing price will depend on the final issue price, demand, market conditions and investor sentiment.

Nearly a Decade of Waiting

The NSE IPO has been awaited for years. Its listing plans were delayed amid regulatory investigations, including the long-running co-location and dark-fibre matters.

Recent legal and regulatory developments have helped clear important hurdles. Reuters reported that the Supreme Court's dismissal of SEBI's appeals removed a major obstacle to the exchange's long-delayed IPO.

NSE has now moved significantly closer to becoming a publicly traded company.

When Will the NSE IPO List?

Reuters reported that NSE is targeting a listing in the week beginning September 21, 2026. Sources also indicated that book-building could begin around September 11, with the price band likely to be announced around September 15.

The IPO is expected to be an Offer for Sale (OFS) involving up to 14.89 crore shares, representing nearly 6% of NSE's equity. Since it is an OFS, the proceeds will go to existing shareholders selling their shares rather than directly to NSE.

NSE IPO vs BSE: Why Investors Are Watching Closely

NSE's proposed listing is particularly significant because its main rival, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), is already publicly listed.

The NSE IPO is expected to attract substantial interest from retail as well as institutional investors because of NSE's dominant position in India's equity and derivatives markets.

For investors, however, the ₹285 GMP should not be treated as a guaranteed listing gain. The GMP is unofficial and may fluctuate significantly before the IPO opens.
