For a hero, not only do excellent acting skills matter, but also their physical appearance. But what happens when a hero starts losing his hair even before his career takes off? Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna has gone through this phase.
Vinod Khanna's son, Akshaye Khanna, is known today for his excellent acting, but there was a time when he was worried about his career due to his hair loss.
Akshaye Khanna was devastated by baldness.
The accomplished star spoke openly about his premature baldness in an old interview. He told Mid-Day in an interview:
"It started at a very young age. It was like a pianist losing his fingers. That's how it felt back then. Until you truly accept it, it keeps bothering you. When you wake up in the morning, look at the newspaper, and realize, 'I can't read this. What does it say? I need glasses.' It will affect you, won't it?"
Akshaye Khanna was mentally broken.
Akshaye Khanna explained how hair loss affected him mentally. He was broken from the inside. According to the actor:
"You might be a sportsman, a cricketer, or a footballer, and you find out you might need knee surgery. So that's very sad, you might lose a year or two of your career. So, as I said, it's like a pianist losing his fingers, because for an actor, your looks are very important. Especially this part (the face). You can still cover this part or do something about it. At the age of 19-20, it's very sad. It's heartbreaking, and it can mentally destroy you."
Currently, Akshaye Khanna is seen in the Aditya Dhar-directed film Dhurandhar. After Chhawa, the actor is receiving much praise for his villainous role in Dhurandhar.
