These days a confrontation is going on between Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Its root is the Taliban, due to the meeting with whom Bajwa has changed the chief of Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI. Bajwa had appointed Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum last week, replacing ISI Chief General Faiz Hameed, but the notification was not issued by Imran Khan's office. Since then there have been reports of a tussle between Imran Khan and Bajwa.
According to media reports, Imran did not want Faiz Hameed to be removed from the post of ISI Chief, but Bajwa made it clear that Imran should not cross his limits by interfering in the affairs of the army. If they want, Hameed can be given an extension till November 15, but after that, he cannot be kept in the post. Senior Pakistani journalist Najam Sethi has also said in a TV show that due to the attitude of Imran Khan on this issue, there was a situation of controversy and this is the reason that the notification has not been issued by the government yet.
Imran's minister's clarification – Army Chief had taken the government into confidence
Pakistan government says that there is no dispute between Imran Khan and Army Chief Bajwa. Pakistan's Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had said during a press conference last week that there was a long discussion between Imran Khan and Bajwa on changing the ISI chief and Bajwa had taken the government into confidence in the matter. Chowdhary had said, citing the law, that the Prime Minister has the right to appoint the ISI chief after discussing with the Army Chief.
Bajwa was upset over Hameed's meeting with the Taliban
Before the formation of the Taliban government in Afghanistan, General Faiz Hameed had gone to Kabul and with his intervention, the Taliban government was formed. According to media reports, Hameed had reached Kabul without taking permission from Army Chief Bajwa, due to which Bajwa was upset and he discharged Hameed from the post of ISI Chief.
Hameed was trying to become the army chief
Recently, it was also revealed in media reports that former ISI Chief Lt Faiz Hameed is trying to become the new Army Chief of Pakistan. The news of the tussle between Hameed and Bajwa was also going on for a long time. It is believed that the differences between the two started three years ago over an army housing project in Rawalpindi. Later, when Imran gave Bajwa an extension of three years, this tug of war came to the fore. Faiz had started taking decisions many times without taking Bajwa into confidence.
