Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise scam case, but he has not yet resigned from his post.

Assembly Speaker Ramniwas Goyal Delhi government minister Atishi and other AAP leaders have said that Kejriwal will not step down. He will run the government from jail. At the same time, in the past, Chief Ministers of many states have left their posts before their arrest.

Even before Kejriwal, Chief Ministers of many states have been arrested. In January this year, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was arrested by ED. Even before his arrest, he had gone to the Governor and submitted his resignation letter.

Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Uma Bharti, former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Yadav, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalitha, and former Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa had left the chair before their arrest.

Hemant Soren (Jharkhand)-

ED had arrested him after interrogation on January 31 in the land scam case. He had resigned from his post before his arrest.

Lalu Yadav (Bihar)-

While being the Chief Minister, Lalu Yadav was arrested in a corruption case. He resigned before going to jail. Lalu Yadav was accused by CBI in the fodder scam in 1997. When his arrest became inevitable he resigned from the post of Chief Minister.

The former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu was found guilty in a disproportionate assets case in September 2014. He was fined Rs 100 crore and sentenced to four years' imprisonment. He resigned after the court order.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had to lose his chair in a corruption case. In the report of Lokayukta Santosh Hegde in the year 2011, he was accused of illegal mining in the state. Yediyurappa had to resign in August 2011.

Uma Bharti (Madhya Pradesh)-

A riot broke out in Hubli, Karnataka when Uma Bharti hoisted the tricolor on August 15, 1994. A case of inciting riot was registered against him. He resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on August 23, 2004, after a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued in this case.
