Australia praised India's efforts to stop the corona virus epidemic

New Delhi: Australia's High Commissioner Barry O'Farrell said on Wednesday that the epidemic of Coronavirus is putting tremendous pressure on the world's government capacity and that terrorists can take advantage of the situation by increasing communal tension.

 

O Farrell while addressing the National Defense College through video conference said that India (India) could be one of the most successful developing countries in managing the epidemic.

He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's global reach in dealing with the epidemic. The Australian High Commissioner said that Modi is also one of the leading voices in shaping the G-20 as an important unit to lead the world in normalizing the situation after Covid-19.

 

He said, "Ever since the onset of this crisis, we have seen a remarkable leadership from India. The world is facing an unprecedented health challenge to which no government has an accurate answer. "

 

O'Farrell said, "It is not only commendable that the Indian government has taken quick steps to curb the spread of the virus, but it is also commendable that it is continuously working to reduce the impact of lockdown on India's most vulnerable sections." The diplomat also said that it was Modi who led the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries to coordinate efforts to stop the epidemic and establish the Covid-19 Emergency Fund as soon as the crisis started.

 

He said that the current epidemic is putting immense pressure on the world's governmental capacity.

 

The diplomat said, "At the same time there is no shortage of terrorists who will take advantage of insecurity and reduced capacity of the government for their selfishness, and try to create communal tension in the midst of the crisis."

 

He did not name any terrorist group. O'Farrell also said, "I believe this crisis will bring Australia and India closer because both Indian Oceanic democracies have the same values."

 

India and America and other world powers have been discussing about ensuring an independent, free and prosperous Indo-Pacific due to the increasing military activities of China in the Indo-Pacific region.

 

The High Commissioner of Australia said, "India is naturally a major power in the region and Australia sees it as a strategic partner with mutual interests."
