Axiom-4: Gaganyaatri Shubhanshu will fly to space today, and will set off on his journey with the hopes of crores of Indians

The 41-year wait to hoist India's flag in space again is expected to end. Under the Axiom-4 mission, Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla will fly to the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday along with three other astronauts.

NASA announced on Tuesday that the Axiom-4 mission will be launched on June 25. Air Force Group Captain and India's indigenous space mission Gaganyaan, Shubhanshu, will be the second Indian to go to space.

 

Rakesh Sharma is India's first astronaut.

NASA, Axiom Space, and SpaceX have targeted the launch of Axiom Mission 4 on Wednesday, June 25 at 12:01 pm, NASA said in a statement.

 

Shubhanshu will be the pilot of the mission.

The astronauts accompanying Shubhanshu include Slavosz Ujnanski-Wisniewski from Poland, Tibor Kapu from Hungary, and mission commander American astronaut Peggy Whitson. Shubhanshu will be the pilot of the mission.

 

This mission has been postponed six times.

SpaceX's Falcon-9 rocket will take off with the astronauts from Launch Complex 39A of NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Earlier, the Axiom-4 mission has been postponed six times due to various reasons.
