After the murder of 22-year-old Ram Gopal Mishra, a resident of Rehua Mansoor village, after stone pelting from a house during the idol immersion in Maharajganj market of Hardi police station area, the angry mob had vandalized and set fire in Maharajganj market. In the city too, a bike was set on fire near Steelganj Pond. Many shops were burnt at the hospital intersection. An attempt was also made to set fire to Qazikatra.
Guerilla war continued for hours between the police and the rioters. To control the rioters, the STF chief had to run with a pistol in his hand. Newly appointed Hardi police station in-charge Kamal Shankar Chaturvedi on Tuesday arrested Aashiq Aashiq Rasool, Namimuddin, Muhammad Raees, Raja Babu, Saqib, and 24 other people and sent them to court. SDM Akhilesh Kumar Singh has sent all the arrested accused to jail. On Monday, 26 people were arrested and sent to SDM court.
DM Monica Rani said that taking the case of riot seriously, action has been taken against 50 people. No rioter will be spared.
