Adelaide, Feb 7 (IANS) Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid said Saturday that the Bangladesh cricket team has given very few "positive stories" for their fans to cherish.
"People in Bangladesh deserve a bit more from their cricketers," Dravid was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
The 42-year-old believes apart from a few cricketing upsets Bangladesh has not quite lived upto expectation in world cricket and are still considered minnows.
Dravid said he thought Bangladesh would show an upward curve after beating India in the 2007 World Cup but it proved to be a false dawn.
"Sure they had the odd upset. Losing to Bangladesh in the 2007 World Cup cost us deeply. You thought that from 2007 they would grow and become a more consistent team, it just doesn't seem to happen and it's been a long time since 2007.
We are talking eight years later and still there aren't enough wins against the top eight sides. For Bangladesh, they need to have more wins and more confidence in their own cricket and players," added Dravid.
Bangladesh's form in the build-up to the competition hasn't been impressive, losing 12 of the 18 One-Day Internationals they played in 2014.
