Beating Retreat Ceremony Latest Update: Like every year, this time the closing ceremony of Republic Day ended with great pomp. During this, President Ram Nath Kovind reached the venue of the ceremony with full pomp, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him.

 

Many dignitaries including the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and the Chiefs of the three services were present in the ceremony. Before the departure of President Ram Nath Kovind, his bodyguards saluted him. President Ram Nath Kovind, accompanied by 46 bodyguards, arrived for the Beating the Retreat ceremony with pride. Today is that special day when the three armies will return to the barracks.

 

During this, a total of 26 tunes of the armies were heard. Kerala's Hind Sena tune is also included in this. This program marks the return of the army to the barracks. A musical festival is organized in the camp during this time.

 

Step by step: Captain Ram Singh and Major HB Braal composed the tune. This was the regimental song of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's Azad Hind Fauj.

 

Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon: After the 1962 war, the tune was composed by C Ramachandra and written by Kavi Pradeep. It was written in the memory of the Battle of Rezangala in Eastern Ladakh. When Lata Mangeshkar sang in a program, Nehru's eyes lit up.

 

Saare Jahan Se Achcha - Iqbal wrote it before independence. This tune will also be played in the program.

 

The Beating Retreat Ceremony is part of an ancient military tradition when armies on the battlefield returned to their barracks to military tunes after the day was over. During this, the flag was lowered. Therefore, during Republic Day, when troops of the armed forces, weapons, and other military equipment, return to the barracks after the Republic Day celebrations. Beating Retreat Ceremony is organized three days after Republic Day i.e. on 29th January at dusk.
