Dr. Balram Bhargava, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), has said that in districts of the country where the corona infection rate is more than 10%, the lockdown should be extended for 6 to 8 weeks. Only then can this deadly epidemic be controlled.

This is the first statement made by a top central government official in support of a strict and prolonged lockdown. He cited the example of Delhi, where the infection rate was once more than 35% and now it has come down to 17%. However, the central government seems to be avoiding a lockdown in the entire country.

Kashmir increased restrictions

In Jammu and Kashmir, restrictions have been imposed in several areas like Corona curfew in other districts including Srinagar, a day after the gathering of people before Eid. Security forces have sealed vital routes and have installed barriers in the city and other district headquarters. Markets are closed and public transport is prohibited here. On Tuesday, there was a heavy traffic jam in many parts of the market including Lal Chowk in Srinagar due to the huge crowd in the market. There was a curfew in 11 districts on 29 April and will remain in force till 17 May.

Cambridge tracker claims - peak in India

According to Cambridge Judge Business School and the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, the peak of the second wave of Corona in India has reached its peak. The institute has given this information based on research from new tracker data. According to Bloomberg, this report states that a new peak of the Corona case has arrived in India.

However, the difference is being seen in the figures of some states and union territories. In the next two weeks, cases may increase in some states such as Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Tripura. The highest number of cases in India were reported on 7 May. Than 4 lakh 14 thousand 188 cases were reported.

3.62 lakh cases were received in the country on the previous day

In the case of Corona in the country, a slight increase has been recorded in the last 24 hours. On Wednesday, 3 lakh 62 thousand 389 new patients were identified, 3 lakh 51 thousand 740 were cured. Less than 3.50 lakh cases were coming from the last two days and more were being cured. Last day 4,127 died in the country. This is the second consecutive day when more than 4 thousand people have lost their lives due to Corona.
