Folk singer Sharda Sinha, who is honored with the title of Bihar Kokila i.e. Bihar ki Koyal, has been admitted to the hospital for the last several days. Sharda Sinha's condition remains critical. She is battling cancer and has been put on a ventilator for life support. She was shifted from the private ward of Delhi AIIMS to the ICU on Monday night. She is currently on ventilator support. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inquired about Sharda Sinha's health from her son Anshuman Sinha. Anshuman Sinha told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that she is still on ventilator support.

Sharda Sinha's husband Brajkishore Sinha died last month due to a brain hemorrhage. Due to this, her health deteriorated and kept deteriorating continuously. She was hurriedly admitted to AIIMS in New Delhi. A team of specialist doctors is treating her in the oncology department. Her son Anshuman Sinha said that Sharda Sinha has been suffering from multiple myeloma since 2017-2018. During this time, her treatment is going on continuously under the supervision of doctors from Mumbai and Delhi.

Apart from Bihar Kokila, Sharda Sinha has received awards like Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan along with many other awards including Bhojpuri Kokila, Bhikhari Thakur Samman, Bihar Gaurav, Bihar Ratna, Mithila Vibhuti. Sharda Sinha was the head of the music department at Samastipur Women's College. Sharda Sinha has so far sung hundreds of traditional songs of marriage and Chhath in Bhojpuri, Bajjika, Magahi, and Maithili languages. Sharda Sinha has so far sung many songs of Chhath, marriage, mundan, janeu, and vidaai. Apart from this, Sharda Sinha has also sung songs like 'Taar Bijli Ke' in Bollywood films like 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' and Anurag Kashyap's film 'Gangs of Wasseypur'.
