
BJP MLA T Raja Singh was arrested in Hyderabad on Tuesday for making objectionable remarks on Prophet Mohammad. Raja Singh, MLA from Goshamahal, had released a video and used objectionable words for Prophet Mohammad. He later called it a joke. After the statement, a large number of people took to the streets in protest against him.
Demonstrations started at various places in Hyderabad late Monday night. The mob demanded the arrest of T Raja, raising slogans of 'Ghostly prophet's one punishment, head tan se juda'. The protesters compared T Raja's statement with that of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.
Police also detained several protesters
After this, a case was registered against him at Dabirpura police station under several sections including 295(a), and 153(a) of IPC. The police have also detained many of the protesters. A large number of police forces have been deployed outside Hyderabad's Police Commissioner's Office, Director General of Police's office, and the old Police Commissioner's office.
Video released against comedian Munawwar Farooqui
BJP MLA had released a video against comedian Munawwar Farooqui. Munavvar performed at a comedy show in Hyderabad only last week. Earlier, Raja Singh threatened to stop Farooqui's show and set the set on fire. Raja Singh said that Munawwar Farooqui has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. After this threat, he was placed on house arrest.
Nupur Sharma commented on Prophet on the 27th of May
BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma made a controversial statement on Prophet Mohammad Sahab during a TV debate on 27 May. Due to the statement, the BJP suspended him from the party for 6 years. Violent demonstrations took place in many places in the country against Nupur's statement.
The Supreme Court also reprimanded Nupur Sharma in this case. The court had said that Nupur made provocative remarks against a particular religion on television. They have provoked the sentiments of the people and Nupur is responsible for whatever is happening across the country. He has posed a threat to the security of the country.
