Shimla, April 15 (IANS) The opposition BJP in Himachal Pradesh Tuesday urged the Election Commission to expedite action against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for making false statements despite a legal notice and a complaint to the state poll panel.
Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Praveen Sharma said in a letter to the Election Commission that even after complaining to the state poll panel about the chief minister violating the model code of conduct, it has not taken any action against him.
He said that in the absence of any action, Virbhadra Singh has continuously been making false statements on the personal life of Lok Sabha member and BJP leader Anurag Thakur, which was clearly in violation of the model code.
The BJP urged the poll panel to take action and censure Virbhadra Singh for making derogatory statements.
