Gurugram. The effect of corona infection has lessened now, but black fungus infection (mucormycosis) is becoming a major challenge. The situation is that during the last 24 hours, 14 new patients of black fungus infection have come in the district and the total number of infected has reached 230. Gurugram currently has the highest number of patients with black fungus in the state. At the same time, due to the increase in the number of patients, the supply of injections according to the demand is also not being available.
The corona infection started in April, peaked in the district on May 6 and the outbreak started decreasing from May 7, so the number of patients continues to decrease. The situation is that now the number of new patients coming daily has reached below 150 on average, but in the meantime, the outbreak of black fungus started increasing. On May 12 in the district, 10 new patients of black fungus infection were revealed and their information was made public by Fortis Hospital, as all the patients were admitted to Fortis itself. Since then, the number of mucormycosis patients has continued to increase.
184 active patients
Every patient with black fungus needs an average of 4-6 amphotericin B injections daily. At present, 184 out of a total of 230 patients in the district are active, so on average 700 to 1100 injections are needed for their treatment. In such a situation, the shortage of injections will increase further in the coming days. It takes 12-24 hours for the delivery of the injection. At the same time, in the case of corona infection, the minimum number of patients coming in a day is steadily decreasing.
Help sought from administration by tweeting
A user named Richa Singh tweeted to the administration that only 25 percent of medicines have been supplied to her 73-year-old patient admitted to Fortis Hospital as per the requirement. Jignesh Shankar Jha also tweeted to the administration about the same problem. Along with this, a user named Bhupendra Chauhan also sought help by tweeting to the administration in this context.
