Amidst the ongoing border dispute with China, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) is rapidly engaged in infrastructural development works in the border areas. The government has planned to connect all the border villages of Arunachal Pradesh with good connectivity roads. Apart from this, BRO is also undertaking the construction of two important tunnels in the Tawang and West Kameng districts of Arunachal Pradesh which will become a game changer for the Indian security forces in the security of the international border.
Road construction at an altitude of 5,700 feet
Brigadier Raman Kumar, Chief Engineer of 'Project Vartak' told that BRO is doing all these works under Project Vartak. According to the official, the Nechiphu tunnel at an altitude of 5,700 feet is being constructed on the Balipara-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) road. It is a 500 m long D-shaped, single tube double lane tunnel. The construction work of the Sela Pass Tunnel in the West Kameng district is nearing completion and will be completed in the next five-six months.
Defense Ministry to discuss a proposal for the purchase of light tank 'Zoravar'
The Defense Ministry will bring an important proposal related to the deployment of light tanks on the China border in a meeting to be held later this week. Government sources said that in a high-level meeting of the Ministry of Defense, the proposal to buy 354 tanks under Make in India will be discussed. He told that the light tank will also help in all emergencies including high-altitude areas, border areas, and island areas. They can also be easily taken up to a height of ten thousand feet.
