Buddha Purnima 2023: I take refuge in the Buddha, echoing in Sarnath, the place of the Tathagata's teachings, illuminated by the golden glow of lamps

The first sermon site of Tathagat on Buddha Purnima was bathed in the light of lamps on Friday. Buddhist monks worshiped Lord Buddha, then visited his urn and wished for world welfare. On the 2667th birth anniversary of Mahatma Buddha, the rituals of Buddha Purnima began at Moolagandha Kuti Buddhist temple on Friday morning.

 

Special prayers were performed near the Dhamma Chakra Pravartani Mudra of Lord Buddha. After this, Buddhist monks prayed for world peace and welfare in front of Dhamekh Stupa. The recitation of the Dhamma Chakra Pravartana Sutra began under the leadership of Bhikshu Sumitananda. After this, the bone remains of Mahatma Buddha was kept in the Buddhist temple for the common devotees to see.

 

Since morning, there was a long queue of devotees to have darshan and worship Lord Buddha's bone urn. In the evening, the whole temple premises started shining with the light of 2667 lamps.

 

On the other hand, at the Dhamma Teaching Center located at Shaktipeeth Ashram, Buddhist monks lit lamps in front of the Buddha statue and recited sutras. In the evening, lamps were also lit in Buddhist monasteries. Similarly, Buddha Purnima was organized in the Cambodian temple, Thai temple, Burma temple, and Japanese temple at Sarnath.

 

The light and sound show was free for the audience

On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, the light and sound show based on the life story of Lord Buddha was organized free of cost by the tourism department of Uttar Pradesh for visitors and tourists. Today, 150 spectators enjoyed the free light and sound show to see the light and sound show running on Dhamek Stupa in the archaeological ruins complex. On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, a rally of boys and girls was taken out from Dhamma Chakra Vihar Inter College on Friday. In which the message of non-violence, kindness to living beings, etc. was given.
