Jasprit Bumrah etched his name into the record books by claiming his 31st ODI wicket in England, overtaking Ravindra Jadeja's previous record of 30 wickets. The milestone came during England's innings at Edgbaston.

 

Bumrah also completed 150 ODI wickets, becoming the third-fastest Indian bowler to reach the landmark in terms of balls bowled. He achieved the feat in 4,605 deliveries, behind only Mohammed Shami (4,070 balls) and Kuldeep Yadav (4,513 balls).

 

Axar Patel Delivers Match-Winning All-Round Performance

 

Axar Patel starred with both bat and ball, claiming 4 wickets before scoring an unbeaten 57 runs to guide India home.

 

He wrapped up England's innings in style by dismissing Adil Rashid and Josh Tongue in the same over, helping bowl out England for 258 runs.

Washington Sundar remained unbeaten on 52 and completed both his half-century and India's victory in style by smashing Adil Rashid for a six in the 46th over.

England all-rounder Liam Dawson scored his maiden ODI fifty at the age of 36 years and 135 days, becoming the second-oldest England player to register a maiden ODI half-century.

 

His 68-run knock, along with Joe Root's 76, helped England post a competitive total after losing wickets in quick succession.

 

India Take 1-0 Lead in ODI Series

 

With Bumrah's record-breaking milestone, Axar Patel's all-round brilliance, Gill's captain's knock, and Washington Sundar's composed finish, India secured a convincing six-wicket victory and moved 1-0 ahead in the three-match ODI series against England.

 

The second ODI will now be played in Cardiff, where India will look to seal the series.
