Cannes 2022: India got the honor of 'Country of Honour', PM Modi told why it is special for the country

The 2022 Cannes Film Festival has begun. For the first time this year, India is going to attend the film festival as 'Country of Honour'. Ahead of the appearance of the Indian delegation led by Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur at Cannes 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued the message.

 

On India being officially recognized as a Country of Honour, PM Modi said, "I am delighted to know about India's participation as the Country of Honor in the Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes. a year and the 75th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival, as well as 75 years of diplomatic relations with France."

 

The PM said that it is heartening to know that a film by one of India's most celebrated filmmakers, Satyajit Ray, has been restored for screening in the Cannes Classics section. The Prime Minister continues, "India has the largest number of films being made in comparison to other countries. Films are made here in different languages. The diversity of our film sector is remarkable."

 

PM Modi says, “Films and society are mirrors of each other. Cinema depicts human emotions and expressions in an artistic way that connects the world with a common thread of entertainment. Many startups from India will show their power to the cinema world. The India Pavilion will showcase aspects of Indian cinema and promote international partnerships and learning.
