The UEFA Champions League began in spectacular fashion as defending champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal all secured victories in their opening league-phase matches.
PSG made the biggest statement of the night, cruising to a 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava, with Ferran Torres scoring a hat-trick on his Champions League debut for the French club. Barcelona also impressed with a 5-1 win over Feyenoord, while Liverpool came from behind to beat Atlético Madrid 2-1. Arsenal, meanwhile, earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory away at Napoli.
Ferran Torres Hat-Trick Powers PSG to 6-1 Win
Defending champions PSG began their bid for a third consecutive Champions League title in emphatic fashion.
Ferran Torres was the star of the show, scoring three goals as PSG demolished Slovan Bratislava 6-1 at the Parc des Princes. The Spanish forward, who joined PSG after starring for Spain at the 2026 World Cup, marked his first Champions League appearance for the club with a memorable hat-trick.
Ousmane Dembélé opened the scoring for PSG before adding a second goal. Torres then took over, scoring three times to put the hosts firmly in control. Slovan's Suleiman Camara pulled one back, but Fabián Ruiz completed the scoring late in the match.
The result gives PSG an ideal start to their Champions League title defence.
Barcelona Thrash Feyenoord 5-1
Barcelona also delivered a dominant performance, defeating Feyenoord 5-1 at Camp Nou.
Raphinha opened the scoring in the third minute before Karim Adeyemi doubled Barcelona's advantage. Raphinha scored again after the break, while Lamine Yamal added a spectacular free-kick to make it 4-0.
Feyenoord's Sem Steijn briefly reduced the deficit, but substitute Gabriel Jesus restored Barcelona's four-goal advantage to complete a convincing 5-1 victory.
Raphinha's brace made him one of the standout performers of the opening round, while Barcelona's attacking display immediately sent a warning to their Champions League rivals.
Liverpool Complete Comeback Against Atlético Madrid
Liverpool had to work much harder for their three points at Anfield.
Atlético Madrid took the lead through Marcos Llorente, but Liverpool responded before half-time when Dominik Szoboszlai found the net.
The Reds completed the comeback shortly after the break, with Alexis Mac Allister scoring the decisive goal to secure a 2-1 victory.
Liverpool's ability to recover from an early setback will be one of the major talking points from their opening Champions League fixture.
Arsenal Beat Napoli 1-0 in Italy
Arsenal secured one of the most impressive results of the opening night by defeating Napoli 1-0 away from home.
The match remained tightly contested for much of the evening, with both sides creating opportunities.
Arsenal finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute when captain Martin Ødegaard produced a superb finish that went in off the inside of the post.
The goal proved decisive as Arsenal held on for a valuable three points in Italy.
