Chandrayaan-3: This mission of Chandrayaan-3 is very special for India, all eyes are on soft landing of 'Vikram' lander

Chandrayaan 3 Launch Today: Chanda Mama Door Ke... Chanda Mama Aa Jana... Since childhood, we have been hearing many such poems and stories of Chanda Mama from our grandmothers. Then we could not even think that one day we would be able to go to the moon, but today we can know every movement of our Chanda Mama. It is no longer a strange thing or a distant mysterious thing for us.

Since ancient times, as much as we have been curious and curious about our life on earth and to know about it, equally about life outside the earth. Today we know a lot about other planetary worlds or worlds outside our solar system and much more is in the process of knowing. But where it all started, the one we probably know the most about is our Moon.

Since childhood, we have heard many stories of its beauty, but now we are trying to go and live there. Almost all the developed countries of the world are engaged in this race and India's efforts are also not far behind them. We have proved ourselves better every time in front of the world. Be it in the field of knowledge, in the field of science, or the field of technology. And now we are going to make that effort, which only a few countries of the world have been able to do. If we succeed, which we sincerely hope, we will establish ourselves as a benchmark in the field of space science in countries across the world. Let us know how important this mission of Chandrayaan-3 is for India-

Chandrayaan 3 mission objective

The Chandrayaan 2 mission is to explore the far side of the Moon. The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is carrying several scientific payloads that will help scientists on Earth better understand the Moon. But the main objective of the mission is to successfully soft land on the Moon. It will help in advancements in spacecraft engineering, landing systems, and maneuverability and capabilities on celestial bodies. If ISRO succeeds with Chandrayaan-3, India will be the fourth country after the United States, the erstwhile Soviet Union, and China to soft-land on the Moon.

India is all set to launch Chandrayaan-3

In 2019, ISRO launched Chandrayaan-2, which had several challenges during its soft landing attempt but is all set to launch Chandrayaan-3, a novel mission once again. Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission of Chandrayaan-2. With the new mission, India will demonstrate its ability to safely land on the Moon and explore its surface. Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota is scheduled to launch Chandrayaan-3 with improved design and assembly on July 14, 2023, at 2:35 PM.

Mission Beginnings

Scientists and engineers started working on the design and assembly of Chandrayaan-3 in January 2020. ISRO has improved the legs of the lander after learning from the failures of previous missions. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the launch date was pushed forward from the first planned launch date of early 2021.

Chandrayaan-3 mission modules

The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft consists of three modules – a lander module, a propulsion module, and a rover module. Chandrayaan-3 will have a rover and lander like Chandrayaan-2. Although the orbiter is not. LVM-3 launcher is being used to send Chandrayaan-3 to the Moon. After launching, the satellite will be released into the lower earth orbit through the Launch Vehicle Mark-3 rocket (LVM-3). Thereafter, the propulsion module of Chandrayaan-3 will propel the spacecraft from an injection orbit around the Earth to a 100 km lunar orbit. The propulsion module will make five revolutions around the earth at different times. After completing all five rounds, Chandrayaan-3 will reach the solar orbit. Chandrayaan-3 will land after the propulsion module makes five rounds around the moon.

Vikram will land on the Moon and deploy four scientific payloads to study the lunar surface temperature and underground features. In addition, SHAPE (Spectropolarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth) has been fitted on the lander to measure the Earth's light emission and reflectance. The rover, 'Pragyan' will explore the lunar surface using chemical tests while moving on the lunar surface.

it will take a month to reach the moon

The journey from Earth to the Moon is estimated to take about a month. The landing is expected to happen between August 23 and 24.

Why are lunar missions sent to the moon?

This discovery is necessary for a better understanding of the Moon, Earth, and the universe. The discovery of the Moon allows scientists to answer questions about Earth's origin, the formation and evolution of the Earth-Moon system, and Earth's past and potentially its future. Understanding how the Moon formed and evolved will help us understand the history of the Solar System, including Earth. The Moon is also the closest celestial body. Space exploration can be attempted on this.
