Chennai lost due to Dhoni's slow batting: CSK, moving towards 200 runs, could only make 150, Mahi's 26 runs off 28 balls

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is called the greatest finisher in the world of cricket. Fans were hoping that Mahi would show his old style in his last match of IPL 2022 and take Chennai to a big score. Dhoni shattered all the hopes with his slow batting. Dhoni scored only 26 runs in 28 balls. During this, his strike rate was 92.86.

Chennai, which was once moving towards a big score, stopped at 150. CSK's score was 75 runs after 6 overs of the powerplay. The team should have scored a big score from here, but after the middle order flop show, Mahi's slow batting dented the team's loot.

Dhoni hit a four and a six while scoring 26 off 28 balls. In the remaining 26 balls, he could score only 16 runs. On the last ball of the 19th over, Dhoni gave a wicket to Chahal. Chahal bowls a slower tossed-up ball to Dhoni.

It was a fuller-length delivery outside the off-stump. Dhoni played across the line shot. The ball hit the bottom of Mahi's bat. Jos Buttler, standing at long-on, took the catch easily. Thus ended Dhoni's struggling innings.

Pressure on Moeen Ali increased due to Dhoni

Moin Ali stood in the field like a warrior. Runs were continuously coming off his bat. The fall of wickets continued from the other side. Jagadeesan scored a run and Rayudu went on after scoring 3 runs. The fans were not feeling any more regret from this. Dhoni, everyone's favorite to bat at number six, was about to hit the ground.

Dhoni did come but went away after playing a silent inning. This score was not enough in any respect in front of an in-form team like the Rajasthan Royals, who have already reached the playoffs. Whatever was feared, that is what happened. Chennai suffered a crushing defeat by 5 wickets.

Moeen completed his half-century in 19 balls, showing a fine game against Rajasthan. Moeen Ali's lethal batting can be gauged from the fact that after 20 overs, Chennai's score was 150 runs, of which 93 runs were from Moeen Ali alone. Moeen's innings included 13 fours and 3 sixes. Had they been supported by Dhoni's fast batting from the other end, CSK could have scored a big total.

Dhoni has hinted that he can play next year too

There is good news for the fans of a veteran finisher and former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He is not retiring from IPL yet. The match played between RR and CSK on Friday evening was being told as Dhoni's last match. In such a situation, there was a question in the minds of his fans whether Dhoni would be seen playing in the IPL in the next season or not. During the toss before the match, 40-year-old Dhoni himself answered this question.

To commentator Ian Bishop's question (whether you will be seen in the yellow jersey next season or not), Dhoni said – Definitely, there is a simple reason behind it. It would be unfair not to play in Chennai. I would also like to say thanks to Mumbai. It won't be good for CSK fans that I don't play in Chepauk (Chennai).

Want to say thank you to the fans for going to different cities

Dhoni said – As a team, we will get a chance to travel to many cities next year. During this, there will also be an opportunity to thank the fans at different places, where we will play matches. Mahi said that if I talk about myself, I have got a lot of love.

It is too early to decide whether 2023 will be my last year or not, says Dhoni. Concluding his talk, he said- You know we can't predict about two years but of course, I will work hard to come back strong next year.
