Know why the Chernobyl accident happened
The accident was caused by a malfunction at the Chernobyl nuclear plant. In this horrific accident, the roof of the plant had blown off and the radiation was spread far and wide. Actually, on 26 April, an investigation was to be done at the nuclear power plant. During this investigation, there was a huge explosion in the plant. Scientists wanted to test an electrical system to see if the reactor's equipment worked after the power supply was turned off.
One of the control systems was shut down for this test, causing the reactors to become dangerously unbalanced. During this, a terrible explosion occurred in the plant. While some people believe that this explosion was due to more steam and more hydrogen. Because of this the radioactive material spread and people started falling ill.
