China says that progress has been made on the issue of the return of thousands of Indian students stranded due to visa restrictions imposed due to Kovid. Addressing global business leaders on Tuesday, Premier Li Keqiang said restrictions on international travel are being eased systematically, taking into account the re-entry of thousands of stranded foreign students to Chinese colleges.
Li said all international students would soon be able to return to China to complete their studies. For this, cross-border travel for commerce and trade activities and labor services is being systematically pursued.
Students' futures at stake
On the question of allowing more than 23,000 Indian students to return to China, the future of more than 23 thousand students, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Thursday that intensive work is being done for the return of foreign students to China. This includes Indians as well.
Some students have already returned to China and started studying. As far as the return of Indian students is concerned, the relevant departments of China and India are in touch and progress has been made on this.
The responsible departments of both countries are working for the early return of the first batch of Indian students. India has sent a list of several hundred students to China after China asked for the names of students willing to return for studies. The studies of many students from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Russia, and Australia are also stuck.
