easing of covid restrictions

Medical supplies, shops, and other businesses have come to a standstill all over China. Long queues of people are being seen outside the medicine shops. Even the shops which are open are failing to meet the needs of the people. In such a situation, anger is increasing among people. The situation in China is so bad that people have to wander from here to there for medical facilities. To overcome all these shortcomings and to pacify the anger of the people, the Chinese government has announced a relaxation of the Covid restrictions.

Decrease in economic activity in Beijing

Many shops and other businesses are closed in the capital Beijing on Sunday i.e. today. Due to this, there is a rapid reduction in economic activities. The mall in Chaoyang, Beijing's most populous district, is eerily quiet. At the same time, the Communist Party says that now there is less need for Kovid testing in Beijing.

People with mild or no symptoms have been ordered to home quarantine. Zhong Nanshan, a leading Chinese epidemiologist, has warned state media that the Omicron virus is still on the rise in China and can spread from one person to 18 other people. Thousands of people are still infected with this infection in many major cities.

China's economy in 2023

According to Capital Economics, China's economy could grow by 1.6% in the first quarter of 2023 and 4.9% in the second from a year ago. Epidemiologist Zhong also said it would take a few months to return to normal. According to officials, the easing of corona restrictions in China is aimed at ensuring the smooth supply of goods, especially medicines and antigen kits.
