The standoff between India and China in eastern Ladakh does not seem to be diminishing. Tensions are rising again between the two countries over a new bridge being built by China near Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh. Open-source intelligence analyst Damien Simon recently shared satellite images of the area, showing a bridge-like structure connecting the two banks of Pangong Tso Lake.
According to reporters, 400 meters of work has been done so far. The speed with which the work of the bridge is being completed, its construction will be completed in the coming few months. Despite heavy snowfall and bad weather, China is busy completing this bridge. According to experts, with the construction of this bridge, China will get a strategic edge in this area.
China's refusal to back down?
According to reports, China is building this bridge to reach Rutog in the northern area of the lake. With the construction of this bridge, China will not have to travel 200 km to reach Rutog. It will reduce about 150 km to reach Rutog. Professor Ashok Swain, head of the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University in Sweden, said it was a clear indication that China had no plans to withdraw from those areas.
India does not accept the illegal occupation of China
The area where China is building the bridge has been occupied since the 1960s. The Indian government has said that where China is building a bridge, it is in its illegal possession since 1960. The Ministry of External Affairs had recently said that as you are well aware that India has never accepted this illegal occupation.
There has been a standoff between India and China in eastern Ladakh for more than 20 months. Violent conflict has also taken place between the two countries. So far 14 rounds of talks have been held between the two sides but the matter does not seem to be resolved yet.
