Tension on the border between India and China is not decreasing, but on Friday, India supported the hosting of the Winter Olympics and Paralympics Games in China in 2022.

On the other hand, there were indications from the US that it could do a diplomatic boycott of this international sporting event in case of human rights violations.

There has been tension on the border between China and India for the last 19 months. It has been said in many media reports that China is further strengthening the military base on the border with India.

But in a virtual meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar supported China in organizing the Winter Olympics and Paralympics Games.

A joint statement was issued after this meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, China, and India. "The ministers have endorsed the hosting of the Winter Olympics and Paralympics Games in China in 2022," the statement said.

Global Times praised

China is going to host the China Winter Olympics and Paralympics from March 4 to March 13 next year.

Recently, US President Joe Biden said that his government is considering a diplomatic boycott of sporting events in China.

The Biden government will send its players to China but is considering not sending a delegation of officials. It is being said that Australia, Canada, and Germany can also join hands with America in this matter.

Regarding this support of India, the daily Global Times, which is considered to be the mouthpiece of the ruling Communist Party of China, has written in its article, "India's support shows that it is not a natural ally of America." The Times has praised it fiercely.

Global Times has written, "India has become closer to America in recent years due to tensions with China on many issues. In the midst of all this, India has surprised social media users and many countries by supporting the Winter Olympics in China.

"This shows that even though there is tension on the border between the two countries, the entire bilateral relationship is not tense. Both countries have common interests on many fronts. Both countries can avoid confrontation and restore cooperation before 2020.

shocking move

Global Times wrote, "India has shown diplomatic and strategic autonomy by supporting China in the Winter Olympics. Despite leaning towards America, India has shown that it cannot remain with America in all regional and international matters. New Delhi is not a natural ally of Washington.

Global Times wrote, "Despite strengthening ties with the US, Japan, and Australia, India continues to pursue ties with China, Russia, and the SCO as well as BRICS member states. This shows that India wants to keep its foreign policy liberal and does not want to limit its relations to any camp.

Qian Feng, director of the Research Department of the National Strategic Institute at Tsinghua University, told Global Times, "India has sent a positive message that it will look at the tension with China and bring stability to bilateral relations." More patience is needed to deal with the current impasse. Both parties can resolve the dispute through more dialogue.

The Global Times wrote, "It is clear from India's stand at the Winter Olympics that it does not want to be America's younger brother, as Japan and Australia are. India wants to become a force on its own and is reluctant to join the US.

Why Support?

Global Times has given the title of this article – India has supported China in the Winter Olympics and told that it is not a natural ally of America.

Sharing this title on Twitter, India's well-known strategic expert Brahma Chelani has written, "When they talk of boycotting the Winter Olympics in China is gaining momentum among the democratic countries, then this Chinese propaganda newspaper is the work of the Modi government. It is giving this headline in praise of foreign policy.

The Global Times has written on the matter of boycotting the Winter Olympics that if China has not invited the leaders of America or Western countries, then where did the talk of boycott come from.

The Global Times wrote in its report, "According to Olympic rules, an invitation from the IOC is mandatory for leaders to participate in the sport. China has no plans to invite leaders of the US or the West to this game.

On December 9 and 10 next month, US President Biden has also not invited China and Russia to the Democracy Conference. In this 110 countries have been invited. India and Pakistan have been invited but many countries including Russia, China, Turkey, Bangladesh have not been invited.

China has also attacked America regarding this. Regarding democracy itself, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, while targeting America in April this year, said that democracy is not a Coca-Cola that can be promised equal taste in every corner of the world. He had said that America should respect the path China has chosen for itself.
