Cold wave grips North India: Severe cold wave alert issued for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and several other states; rain warning issued for the South.

Intense cold is gripping Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and the entire North India region. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for several states across India today. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are currently experiencing cold and dry weather, with fog/mist in the mornings and a cold wave alert issued for some areas.

 

 

Weather forecast for Delhi-NCR

Delhi-NCR will experience biting cold today (Thursday), with light to moderate fog/mist in the morning. The weather will be mainly clear and sunny during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 23-24°C and the minimum temperature around 8-10°C.

These regions will also experience mainly clear weather with fog in the mornings. Dense fog is likely in some eastern parts. Haryana and Punjab are experiencing severe cold, with a minimum temperature of 2.8°C recorded in Adampur, Punjab.

 

 

The Meteorological Department has warned that cold wave conditions will persist in these areas for the next two days. Rajasthan is expected to have partly cloudy skies and hazy weather in the morning, with light winds. Fog is likely in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

 

 

Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh

Minimum temperatures in these hilly regions are below 5°C, and several upper reaches have recently received snowfall, leading to cold winds in the plains. The weather will remain cold, and frost is possible in some areas. In many parts of Madhya Pradesh, the mercury has dropped below 10°C, and the Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for the next two days.

 

 

Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall occurred over coastal Tamil Nadu. Over the next 24 hours, light rainfall is possible in Tamil Nadu and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with moderate rainfall at one or two places. Light rainfall is also possible in interior Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep. Dense fog may occur in some parts of Northeast India.
