Common Eligibility Test (CET): What is it, how will it happen and what will it change?

The Central Government has decided to set up a National Recruitment Agency for admission in all government sector jobs last Wednesday.

The government claims that this agency will bring transformative improvement in the admission process in central government jobs and will also promote transparency.

Under this agency, a Common Eligibility Test i.e. Equal Aptitude Test will be conducted which will replace the primary examination to be taken for the railway, banking, and central government jobs.

At present, the youth have to face heavy financial pressure and other difficulties to participate in the examinations to be held for different posts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised this decision of the cabinet by tweeting from his official Twitter account.

Prime Minister Modi wrote, "National recruitment agency will prove to be a boon for crores of youth. With the Common Eligibility Test, it will end many examinations and save precious time as well as resources. This will lead to transparency. Will also get a big boost. "

What is a Common Eligibility Test?

Every year, two to three crore youth in India take different types of examinations to get jobs in the central government and banking sector.

For example, for jobs in the banking sector, the youth has to fill the application form several times a year. And each time the youth have to pay fees ranging from three to four hundred rupees to eight-nine hundred rupees.

But the National Recruitment Agency will now conduct a common eligibility test for all such tests.

With the help of this test, screening and examination of candidates will be taken at the first level for SSC, RRB, and IBPS.

According to the Press Information Bureau, the Common Eligibility Test will be an online test under which youths, graduates, 12th and tenth pass will be able to test.

The special thing is that after the start of this examination, the candidates will not have to prepare for different examinations and their different ways.

Because there is no uniformity in the questions asked in SSC, banking and railway examinations. In such a situation, youth have to prepare separately for every exam.

How will this exam be done?

To give these exams, the youth had to travel by bus and rail to the examination centers built away from home at an early age.

It is being claimed by the government that the National Recruitment Examination will solve these problems of the youth as two centers will be set up in every district for this examination.

Apart from this, the score achieved in this exam will be valid for three years. And there will be no upper age limit in this examination.

What will change with this exam?

Experts related to the education sector are believing that this is such a reformist step that was waiting for a long time.

Career counselor Anil Sethi believes that this step of the government is good and its effect will also be long term, but it should not be forgotten that this is the first step towards reform.

He says, "If you have to go to many different doors, fill lots of forms and have to scrutinize at different places, then it is a long process. People have a lot of problems with this. It is my personal opinion that This should have happened many years ago.

SSC, Bank, and Railways are the three avenues from which government jobs are entered. In such a situation, when a person gives this test, his score will be valid for three years. After this, the youth will be able to sit in any of the SSC, bank and railway exams. I think it's a better step. "

Now the question arises that how will this step affect the candidates.

Talking to the BBC, one such candidate, Poorvesh Sharma, says that this step will reduce some misfortunes for all the students like him.

They say, "According to the information you are getting so far, it will be good. Because till now you used to give a paper. But if you were not able to give that paper due to bad health or any other reason, then your whole year used to be bad. Now according to what the government has said, this paper will be twice a year. "

"One big thing is also that earlier you had to fill different forms for every paper. In SSC, both clerk and CGL had to provide paper, then forms had to be filled separately for both. The problem becomes because one form of IBPS is only eight hundred rupees for the general category. And now the children have to fill many such forms, in such a situation, the children have to face a lot of burden. It will be done after which you can get ready for your exam in whatever sector you wish to go to. "

Sharing the reaction of the children preparing, Poorvesh says, "I am preparing myself and I am also teaching some children. Ever since this news has come, some children's phones have been receiving what will happen now. I agree that this is a good step, but till now we do not have all the information that this examination will be from 2021, then it will be the examination of the year 2020 or 2021 because if the examination of 2021 will be conducted under the CET, then this examination till 2023 It will not be possible. In such a situation, the bottom line is that more information about CET should be revealed. "
