Gulveer Singh delivered a sensational performance in challenging rainy conditions, clocking 27:49.78 to finish second in the men's 10,000m final. The Army athlete from Uttar Pradesh produced a remarkable final-lap surge to secure India's first-ever medal in the event at the Commonwealth Games.
Weightlifter Harjinder Kaur continued India's dominance in weightlifting by winning silver in the women's 69kg category with a personal-best total lift of 227kg (101kg Snatch + 126kg Clean & Jerk). The medal marks her second consecutive Commonwealth Games podium finish after winning bronze in Birmingham 2022.
India's boxing campaign also received a major boost as Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas, and Jadumani advanced to the semi-finals, ensuring at least three bronze medals under boxing rules. All three now remain in contention for gold.
India has now collected 12 medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, although the country slipped to ninth place in the overall medal standings, while Australia continues to dominate the table.
