New Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) The Congress Friday accused the BJP and the AAP of muddying the Delhi assembly poll campaign and said its own electioneering was on "real issues" concerning the people.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the run up to the Delhi polls has seen "the most sordid campaign and the lowest level of politics being played by the BJP and the AAP".

"While the BJP is seeking support of a dera (a religious grouping), Arvind Kejriwal's party (AAP) is being supported by a religious denomination. The Congress strongly deprecates and condemns this politics of communal and caste division," he said in a statement.

"Not only this is unconstitutional and militates against the oath to uphold the constitution taken by the two parties, (but also) it is an insult of the wise voters of Delhi and an affront to the tenets of democracy," he said.

He said unprovoked riots took place in Delhi's Trilokpuri area in the run-up to the elections, noting the area had an Aam Aadmi Party legislator.

"The same was repeated in Bawana where BJP held the seat," he said.

Surjewala accused the two parties of playing "politics of invoking caste".

Delhi will goes to the polls Saturday to elect an 70-member assembly.
