The Congress governments of Punjab and Chhattisgarh have also announced financial assistance for the families of farmers who were crushed to death by a Union minister's car in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. Expressing solidarity with the farmers, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that they have announced Rs 50 lakh each to the families of the deceased. He has also talked about giving Rs 50 lakh to the family of the journalist who was killed during the coverage of the incident.

 

Both the states will give total assistance of Rs 1 crore to the family of the slain farmers and journalists. The Yogi government has already announced Rs 47-47 lakh more government jobs.

 

After landing in Lucknow along with former Congress President Rahul Gandhi to meet the families of the victims in Lakhimpur Kheri, Charanjit Singh Channi said, "We are with the families of the slain farmers. On behalf of the Punjab government, I announce Rs 50 lakh each to the families of those killed, including the journalist.

 

Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, standing with Channi, also announced financial help for the farmers. He said, "On behalf of the Chhattisgarh government, I announce Rs 50 lakh each to the families of the farmers and journalists killed in the violence."

 

Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in violence that erupted in the Tikonia area of ​​Lakhimpur Kheri district on Sunday against Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's visit to Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra's native village. Apart from four farmers, three BJP workers and the driver of Union Minister Ajay Mishra were killed. Journalist Raman Kashyap, who was injured during this, also died the next day. A case has been registered against many people including Mishra's son Ashish in this case.
