On January 8, 1 lakh 79 thousand 723 cases were found in the country and 15.14 lakh tests were done. The infection rate has also increased to 13.2%. Meanwhile, the Center has said that at present only 5-10% of the infected need hospitalization. The government claims that 20-23% of patients had to be admitted in the second wave.
