The Joint Secretary said, 'There have been at least 34 times more cases and 83 times more deaths in 15 countries than India. It says a lot about the measures we take to manage the situation. India's focus has always been to take restrictive action.
India has only 7.9 cases per one lakh population as compared to 62.3 globally. The global average death rate is 4.2 percent per one lakh population whereas in India this rate is only 0.2 percent. The government has identified timely identification and clinical management as the right steps for this. India's testing capacity has also been strengthened already. Aggarwal informed that more than one lakh tests are being conducted daily since Monday.
