Corona virus cases are continuously increasing in the country. Meanwhile, the latest government data shows that only 6.39 percent of active cases require hospitalization. Data show that the epidemic in the country is not more severe than in other countries. Currently, only 0.45 percent of cases in India require ventilators. At the same time, globally the rate is two to three percent.

As of Wednesday, intensive treatment was being provided in about three percent of cases. Love Aggarwal, joint secretary of the Union Health Ministry, said that the rate of recovery of patients has increased. While the rate was 7.1 percent at the end of March, it has increased to 39.62 percent at present. "It is a positive sign that more than 40,000 positive patients have recovered and the number of hospitalized patients is much lower than the global figures," he said.

Agrawal said that 3.6 million (36 lakh) cases were reported in more than 1.4 billion (one billion 40 crore) population of the 15 countries most affected by the virus. He said that India's population is 130 crores but till now the number of infected people has reached only one lakh. The Joint Secretary said, 'There have been at least 34 times more cases and 83 times more deaths in 15 countries than India. It says a lot about the measures we take to manage the situation. India's focus has always been to take restrictive action.

India has only 7.9 cases per one lakh population as compared to 62.3 globally. The global average death rate is 4.2 percent per one lakh population whereas in India this rate is only 0.2 percent. The government has identified timely identification and clinical management as the right steps for this. India's testing capacity has also been strengthened already. Aggarwal informed that more than one lakh tests are being conducted daily since Monday.
