The war against the Covid-19 epidemic continues across the country. In this sequence, while the opening of all schools across the country has started, an important phase is going to start today under the Corona Vaccination Campaign. In this, the first dose of the Corona vaccine will be given to children in the age group of 12 to 14 years. According to the Ministry of Health, in this phase, vaccines will be given to children born from 2008 to 2010. The population of children eligible for vaccination in this age group is about 7.11 crore.
All people above 60 years of age will take vigilance dose
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had announced this on Monday itself. In this phase, children are to be given a dose of Corbevax, a vaccine from Hyderabad-based Biological E Company. Along with this, now all people above 60 years of age in the country will be given a vigilance dose. Earlier this dose was being administered to people suffering from serious diseases of this age group.
The Union Health Minister had tweeted, 'Children are safe, the country is safe. I am happy to inform you that from March 16, anti-corona vaccination of children in the age group of 12 to 13 and 13 to 14 years is starting. Also, all people above 60 years of age will now be able to take vigilance dosage. I urge the relatives of children and people above 60 years of age to get the vaccine.
Dosage will be given in 28 days interval
After serious deliberations with scientists, it has been decided by the Center to start vaccination for the age group of 12-13 years and 13-14 years. The 'Carbavax Vaccine' to be administered to these children is India's first indigenously developed Receptor Binding Domain (RBD) protein subunit vaccine. It is capable of combating corona infection. Children 12-14 years old will be given two doses of Carbavax vaccine spaced 28 days apart. It is noteworthy that Biological E Limited has supplied 50 million doses of Carbavax to the Centre. This entire supply has been distributed in different states of the country.
